What we install

New systems, replacements & leach fields

Urban lot or mountain acreage, TCS works with you on a septic system that blends into your landscape and keeps as much yard as possible.

New septic systems

For new homes and properties that need a system, from the soil evaluation through the final inspection.

Replacement systems

When an old system has failed or can't keep up, we replace it with a system designed for your property today.

Leach field repair & replacement

Repair or replace a failing drain field to get your septic system back to normal working condition.

Leach fields

Tanks, risers & baffles

Risers make the tank easy to reach for pumping. Baffles keep solids in the tank where they belong.

Commercial systems

Commercial septic installs, with the design done alongside engineers around what your business does and the waste it generates.

System types

The right system for your ground

The soil evaluation and your county's rules decide what will work. These are the system types we build.

Common

Trench system

Wastewater from the tank flows into trenches in the ground and soaks into the soil, which finishes the treatment.

Tough soil

Mound system

A treatment area built up above the native ground, used when the soil or site won't support a conventional system.

Even spread

Pressure bed

A pump doses wastewater under pressure so it spreads evenly across the whole bed.

Small lots

Creative solutions

If your property won't allow a large system, we have creative options to reduce its size, including above-ground systems.

Our process

From perc test to final inspection

  1. Call or text Tac

Tell us about the property: new build or replacement, the address, and what's going on. You talk to the owner from the first call.

  2. Site & soil evaluation

We start with the ground. A soil evaluation and percolation (perc) test show how well your soil can take water.

  3. Design with an engineer

We work with local engineers on your system design: mound, trench or pressure bed, and the right spot for it, with the least impact on your property and as much yard as possible.

  4. County permit

We work with you to get the proper permit from your county before the build starts. We help you through the county permit process.

  5. We handle the install

Tank, lines and drain field go in according to the approved design. We build systems with longevity in mind.

  6. Test & inspect

We test the system to make sure it meets the rules for your location, and the county inspects the work. Then we talk about a maintenance plan.

OWTS permits, explained plainly

How septic permits work in our counties

In Colorado, a septic system is officially an "onsite wastewater treatment system," or OWTS. The state sets minimum standards in Water Quality Control Commission Regulation 43. Each county's health agency adopts rules at least that strict and issues the permits for typical home-size systems.

What the process usually involves:

  • A permit before work startsGenerally required to install, alter, expand or repair a system.
  • Site & soil evaluationSoil information, test pits and/or perc test results.
  • A design and site planWhere the tank and drain field go, and the required distances from wells, buildings, water and property lines. Some sites need an engineered design.
  • County review and site visitThe county checks the application and design against its rules.
  • Inspection before it's coveredThe county inspects the installed work before it's buried, then gives final approval.

We help you through the county permit process. TCS Septic is a licensed septic installer in El Paso County. Requirements, fees and review times are set by each county and change from time to time, so we'll walk you through what applies to your property instead of guessing here.

Who issues septic permits

In Elbert, Pueblo, Fremont, Park and Lincoln counties, that county's public or environmental health office handles septic permits.

Inside a city or sewer district? Ask us first. Some properties can or must connect to sewer instead.

Leach field repair & replacement

Drain field acting up?

Raw sewage, puddles or damp spots on your lawn can mean a bad or broken septic system. Sometimes the leach field needs repair to treat the soil and restore your system to normal working condition. Sometimes it needs replacing.

Another major cause of drain field failure is salt. It builds up and hardens like concrete around the drainage pipes. We'll walk the property with you and tell you plainly what it needs.

I called TCS Septic Pumping and talked to Tac on Saturday, May 13, around 9 a.m. He came out the same day only a few hours later. He pumped the septic for exactly what he quoted on the phone, nothing extra. When he was here I told him about the problems that I was having with my leach field and he walked around the property with me and told me everything that I could do to fix the problem myself so that I would not have to spend a ton of money. Another company had quoted thousands of dollars without even looking at it. Tac offered to help with his dump truck, make calls for dirt and help me find equipment to use to fix my leach field. He is a stand up guy that runs a hell of an honest business and as long as I live out here in Peyton I will use TCS Septic Pumping and recommend him to anyone that I can. He really saved us big when we needed it.

Tac and his team are phenomenal. We had a last minute crisis with a septic system ON THE DAY OF CLOSING and even though Tac was out of town, he bent over backwards and operated with a sense of urgency to get us taken care of. Added bonus: their communication and follow through are fantastic!

FAQ

Septic installation questions

Do I need a permit to install or replace a septic system?

Generally, yes. In Colorado, a permit from your county's health agency is required before a septic system (OWTS) is installed, altered or repaired, with some minor exceptions. In El Paso County that's El Paso County Public Health. In Teller County it's Teller County Public Health and Environment. In Douglas County it's the Douglas County Health Department. We help you through the county permit process.

What is a perc test?

A percolation test measures how well your property's soil can take in water. Along with a soil evaluation, it helps decide what type of system will work, how big it needs to be and where it can go.

What type of septic system will my property need?

It depends on your soil and site. We work with local engineers on your system design and handle the install. Common types are trench systems, mound systems and pressure bed systems. Small or tight lots may need a creative solution, such as an above-ground system.

How long does a new septic installation take?

It depends on the site, the design, the county's review and inspection schedule, and the weather. We'll give you a realistic picture once we've looked at your property.

How much does a new septic system cost?

Every property is different. Cost depends on soil, system type and size, site access and county requirements, so we don't post prices. Call or text Tac at 719-492-6818 to talk about your project.

Can my leach field be repaired, or does it have to be replaced?

Sometimes a repair is enough, and sometimes the field needs to be replaced. Some repairs also need a county permit. We'll look at it and tell you plainly what it needs.

Do you do commercial septic installs?

Yes. We work with engineers on commercial system design, handle the install, and coordinate with your general contractor, surveyors and the city or county.
